US car manufacturer General Motors has announced plans to withdraw entirely from Australia and retire the Holden brand by 2021. The company confirmed this morning that it intends to wind down sales, design and engineering operations in both Australia and New Zealand and retire the Holden brand by next year, axing about 600 jobs.
